| Holy balls this thing is fast - zero turn MY ASS !! It will turn on a dime and give you a quarter in change. It will mow about 3 times faster than I am capable of driving it right now. |

I bought a Scag this spring. Holy shit it is a mowing machine..... Yesiree - a Scag is Bad Ass. I'm hoping that once I get all the areas bushogged again I can keep it up with my ZT. At my old ass age being on that tractor 8-10 hrs a week and another 8 or so on a Craftsman was killing me. That ZT is like driving a Cadillac over a Ford Pinto. |

I bought a Kubota ZD326S about a month or so ago. Mowing what I have to mow on weekly basis got a whole faster and a much better mow as well. My ZTR is far more stable on my hills than my old JD mower. And to help with that, I added 8 gallons of RV antifreeze/water mix to the rear drive tires. That's about 140-150 lbs, most of which is below the axle which means it lowered my COG. it also should help with traction. Here's just part of what I have to mow: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p111/Albinator/IMG_2099Large_zpsa092e0c2.jpg Damn Merlin that is a great looking place. |

Lower the air pressure on the rear tires. Your back will thank me later. That may be a good idea since I too am a victim of the L4/L5/S1 - fusion - double lamenectomy curse - plus looking at a hip replacement in the very near future. Gettin old aint for sissies !!!! How low do you recommend ?? |

It doesn't take a ton. Lower it a couple lbs to start. It really does help. I lower the psi in both my tractor and ZTR since there isn't any seat adjustment in either one of them. Oh, there's seat adjustment all right, it just gets maxed out due to my size and weight, hence making it virtually useless. Therefore, I install tennis balls under the seat to help soak up the end of seat adjustment shock. I've had spinal surgery on my back T13 and I can use all the cushion I can get. For the tractor, since it's seat flips forward, just add 2-3 tennis balls and off you go. For the ZTR, I'll have to partially disassemble the seat to add a couple tennis balls. I'll do that just after I finish with adding the canopy to both the tractor and the ZTR; probably at the end of this week. |

I have a Scag Freedom Z and this is relevant to me since I'll take all the suspension I can get due to a bad back. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I bought an Exmark zero turn a few years ago, don't know why I didn't do it sooner, I would have had more time to play or get other things done. My mowing time went from about 4 hours down to less than 2 and the blade speed makes a huge difference in the quality of cut. I have found that in certain areas of the lawn a little bit of wheel slippage over the last few years has created some erosion issues. Most of that is around obstacles like trees or edging that I can't vary my cut pattern on. YMMV. |

| I got a Hustler earlier this year. It's nice, but it does not like hills. When they say don't mow anything over 10* they're serious. Even going downhill, things are dicey. I take the Bobcat and park it on the top of the hill. We put a 'biner on the grapple bucket and one on the back of the mower. My son "belays" the mower down the hill while I drive. It's the most redneckish thing I've done lately, but it works. |

Thanks Merlin !!!!!!! Well don't thank me yet: After I did the tennis balls under the seat thing, I went and mowed most of what I needed to mow and I don't think I have any seat movement at all. In other words, I think the seat is totally bound up and the suspension isn't moving much if at all. This happened on my Kubota tractor as well. The typical solution is to lubricate liberally, jump up and down on the seat, lubricate liberally, jump up and down until you finally get the seat moving again. Between working on both my tractor and ZD canopies and bushhogging +8 acres today, havent had time to do the jump up and down bit. Stay tuned. |
