Can anyone recommend one for me? I have about 40 feet of electric fencing running off a 12v battery surrounding my bee hives to keep away unwanted pests. The drain on the battery is very low, so I'm thinking a solar powered tender would be perfect. I'm specifically looking for one with an indicator light that says when it is charging (although, I suppose I could wire one in after the face). Anyone use something like this? Suggestions?

This one did good work for us.

Sadly, I killed the solar panel by not noticing that it had been knocked over and submerged in water. Haven't gotten around to fixing that yet.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for and seems to have better reviews than ones I was looking at. Did you use it for fencing, and was the 5w panel enough?

I've used solar panel - mainly for my boat two batteries.  The only question I would pose is, have you ever (or how often) have you  had the fence deplete your battery (wet branch or tall grass for example)?  A heavily depleted battery freezes much easier than a fully charge battery.  Difference depends on the type of battery.  If your battery is exposed to deep freeze temps, it's something to thing about.

It hasn't drained yet, we generally keep up with the grass and won't have to worry about it over the winter. Good point though.
