Yes, I am typing this as of August 14th!  No not because it was a high of 65* degrees today, and a forecast of 40* here tonight, it's because I have been seeing maple trees starting to turn already!  Not whole trees yet, but whole branches, and a few trees were over half red.  Now mind you most of the ones I have seen changing are above 3000ft, but I was driving around down here at home this afternoon, and noticed some other kinda trees starting to get that look, fall grass is growing like mad, the lawn mower sweats just to cut the tough shit.....  God is it that time already?

I wonder if the wet summer has caused it or what??  I can almost bet you now after this cold spell this week, the mountain trees will start to kick already.....  This weather keeps getting screwier

I have always thought of mid August/ early September being the transition to fall, especially at any elevation over 1000 feet.  I say bring it on, I love the fall.  It wasn't too many years ago it was 90 degrees in Oct, that wasn't TX either, it was the Midwest.  I will take 60's in Aug over that crap any year.

Well, normally you don't see any signs of fall here in the higher areas of WV, till 2nd week in Sep. or so, and down low about 3rd week.

Well see the thing is here in WV, you have winter, summer, and fall lasts about 2-3weeks when the leaves are a pretty color  Last year winter came on Halloween, when we got 3' of snow, and knocked out power for a week

The first <60 degree night is one of my favorite days of the year.  That....and the first few poplar leaves.  Good signs.

I'm going backpacking this weekend, taking Varible556 over on the Shavers fork to the high falls, supposed to be lows in the lower 50's, perfect weather for lighting a fire and sitting around, perfect sleeping weather

It's funny you guys mention this. I'm over here in Afghanistan and I got up this morning and it was actually cool outside. I thought to myself that fall is on its way. Fortunately I will be going home for good in 12 days and I will get to spend fall and winter back in the states with my family. First time in nearly 3 years. My oldest starts 8th grade and my little one is going in to Kindergarten.
With Halloween, my birthday, and the holidays right around the corner...this is my favorite time of year!

Nope, Cheat Mountain, and pretty much everywhere over here in the mountains.  It's not a full scale change, but it's coming.

Here in NE IL, I'm beginning to notice scattered trees with leaf edgings turning a bit red/orange. I *love* fall.
