| As stated, going to put out peas for the first time this year. I live in Southwest Va. Any thing in particular I need to know? Everybody I talked to says valentines day for the date. Varietys? I love peas, my gardening is getting bigger every year and this is one I've never planted. |

The hardest thing about peas is not shelling them and eating them all raw as you pick! Ain't that the truth? OP, plant some snap peas. They are just fantastic, and very easy to grow. |

+1 for sugar snap peas.Something I've learned over the years is I put netting up just like pole beans, I plant a row on both sides of the netting. This makes it much easier to pick otherwise the plants get thick and want to lean and not produce as much.
They are very easy to grow, the worst enemy is the one picking them and eating them before they make it to the house. Next step is grabbing a frying pan, some olive oil and a touch of real butter, finely chop some fresh garlic, some salt and pepper and saute till tender. And don't shuck them, saute pod and all. Getting hungry now time to pull some from the freezer, good luck. |
