We have a shallow well that is unfortunately at the bottom of our property. It sits approximately 80' below and 450' away from the house. I have been have issues with the pump and want to replace it. Any thoughts on a type/hp that would work well? Right now it is a  submersible pump and I'd like to try to get away from that if possible. It is also running on 220v.  The well itself is about 10' deep

Thanks

10' deep?  That's shallow by anyone's standards.  I pounded a sand point 45' by hand.

By having a submersible @ 10' you're pretty much not leaving any room for draw down when the pump kicks on.

You're not going to have any better luck with a jet pump at that depth either, IMHO.

Deeper, much.

No more than I know about wells, 10' sounds very shallow to me.  Hell here you'd be outta water, unless it was raining....

My water well for my home has 400' of 3"casing and 140' of drop pipe connected to my 1 1/2 hp Sta-rite jet pump. I am sure that a 10 foot well would not give you safe water to drink even if it did provide enough water to use other than to wash you hands.

i think you mean the "well pit" is 10' deep.

the fact that you are in georgia means you probably don't have a pitless adapter, which would serve to keep the discharge line below the frost line in environments colder that you have.

so you have a pit?

how far is the submersible pump down?

Yes, sorry it is a pit well that the previous owner dug in.  The pump is probably at 9'.  When it is working it somehow keeps up with a household of 5, including a teenage daughter.   Because of the depth, we have not been drinking from it.

i don't see the purpose of this "well".
