What seeds do yall plant with? Do you collect the seeds out of your plants, dry them and use them next year? What type of seeds do you put back for emergencys and where do you get them from?

thanks in advance.

you have to decide what you want to do.  if its only a just in case type scenario then you want heirloom seeds for sure as you can harvest the seeds from the plants and use them the next year.  a lot of hybrid seeds produce more and bigger fruits but the seeds saved from these usually won't produce fruit and if they do they will be much smaller and a lot less.  for example i plant hybrid banana pepper plants.  often a few will remain on the plant and fall off when over ripe on the ground.  all over my garden these pepper plants will pop up and they usually only produce 4-6 peppers and they are tiny and not of very good flavor.

I've always had good luck with hometownseeds.com  they have some very nice survival seed banks and good fresh seeds.

We went to all heirloom seeds 3 years ago and now 90% of the seeds we plant are our own that we've saved.  We bought our originals and any "new" ones we need from Baker Creek Seeds.
