just wanted to have a thread to show my progess and whats going on with my tractor; inspired bySCW's thread on his tractor build up.

this was my dad's tractor and he passed away last year.  i didn't (and still dont) know much about it.  about the only thing i knew was how to start it and run the pto.  i want to restore it and continue using it on the farm that mom is running now.  she is too old (well, she isnt too old per se, but she just cant handle this thing) to run the tractor so i will have to.  its 40 acres of pasture that needs mowing a few times a year.

so, here's what i'm starting with.  last fall, i moved it out of the field and up closer to the house and man o man, it started right up with a boost.  i noticed today that there is a hell of a leak somewhere. looks like oil. its all over the ground too.

Looks like the same make and model as SCW's tractor.

BTW, you're missing a pin where your toplink joins the brushhog.

Sweet!

It looks like it can be gone through with ease and end up with a great tractor, a lot of the parts you've got are in better shape than mine, fenders especially.

It looks like the seal between the injector pump and the motor is shot, causing a massive oil leak.  If I were you I'd gently remove the seal and take it to a GOOD auto parts or machinery supply house and get the seal matched.  You'll pay about 1/5th as much as if you went to a Case dealer.

It looks like your shifter boots were replaced with the same part that I just got, and they don't fit very well.  Rats.

Great rubber all the way around, I wish my tires were that good!  That's a good $1000 or so worth of rubber.

It looks like the original drawbar has be removed and a conventional receiver type hitch welded on the bottom.  Probably not a big deal and possibly a lot more convenient.

Probably the worst thing you've got to deal with is the centerlink of the 3pt hitch.  If I were you I'd just find a PTO cover like I did and figure something out.  I'm going to find a machinist to make me a big plate to bolt to the tractor and build an attachment off of it that will allow access to the PTO, but that's for this summer.  You might be fine with lighter loads hanging on the top ears for a while longer.  I was told that's a good way to break stuff, I guess that was right.

Looks good, post some more pics as you start working on it.  And tear the stupid air cleaner apart and tell me how it works.

Looks like someone is going to get a crash course in mechanics!  Tractors are a good enough place to start, most of them is pretty simple, and the parts that aren't you might as well have help with anyway.

It's in the 730/830/930 family, I really don't know the differences very well.  I've got a parts book that came with the tractor and the service manual I pictured in the other thread.  Don't buy the manual directly from AgCon, go to Ebay and buy it from the same people for $30 less (grrrr).

You can also talk to John Saeli that I linked to in the other thread, tell him I sent you and he should be able to tell you the year and model from the serial #.

Looks like at least a four row planter in the background of pic #2....

Injector pump = what pressurizes the fuel system and forces fuel through the injectors into the cylinder. Bad pump = no run.
