Roughly how many pounds of taters are you getting per pound of potato starts that you plant?

I've never really measured.
I don't grow rows of potatoes, usually only 2-4 plants worth, all of which start from just a couple potatoes that I use for seed from the grocery store, and grow whatever we normally eat.
I'd guess I start with a pound and end up with at least 30-40lbs

Lots of variables.  The variety, how you mound them up, soil conditions., etc.

Some varieties I get half of the yield.

I'm interested in more knowledge also.  I grew Yukon Gold I got at chinamart last year.  It was a small bag...1-2 pounds maybe.  Something like 14 seeds.  Split that with my neighbor so I put in about 6 or 8.  I don't think I split any of them.  Yield was very tasty but not terribly big.  Thought I'd get alot more out of it.

Fertilized, partially composted horse manure tilled in prior, mounded up once or twice I think to keep dirt just below the leaves.  Mulched with black weedbarrier.

I'm going to grow them in a box garden.  I hope to end up with a 4'x2'-3' box by the time of harvest.
