Im planning to put in my first "real" garden this year. I planted a few pepper and tomato plants last year, but I would like to also plant some corn, beans, and okra this year. Back when I was quite young, my parents had a garden that was about 40x60, as did my grandparents. I live in a small town, and there are a few gardens around that are 60x80 or 40x100. I want to plant enough to make it worth it, but  I am afraid that  I might get in over my head by going too big. Any pointers to help me out?

How many people are you feeding or are you planning to can/preserve?
I have a 48 square SFG and I end up giving away lots of food.

if space is an issue you can grow your "bush" plants on a trellis. Squash, beans, cucumbers things like that.

Start with a 4x4 SFG.
Expand that if necessary.

2 adults, and twin little ones about just under 2 yrs.

Ive got a big freezer, and I would like to do some canning as well. Ill sell/trade/give away what we cant eat or save.

I have about 200square feet of almost full sun I can grow in at my current home. I may be moving in the next couple months, then Ill have more space than  I could ever use.
