I'm new to gardening and landscaping. I've got two 11 year old mountain laurels in my front yard and would like to dress them up a bit. Would rubber mulch damage them at all? I'm really open to any options here if rubber mulch is no good.

If it were me, I would use something natural.  But thats just me.

The only problem I would have with it was if it floated away in a hard rain.  I have regular pine bark mulch and it is prone to doing that.

It depends on what you're looking for.  The rubber mulches will last essentially forever if they don't float away, however, they don't give anything to the soil.  Natural mulches will decompose over time and add nutrients and organic matter to the soil improving it.
