I don't have a recipe, but I've helped make it a few times. 
The people that own the farm I hunt in WV have an old fashioned apple butter stir one weekend in oct. Big old black iron kettle over a wood fire, the whole deal. Everyone stops by to take a turn stirring the pot. The old granny wouldn't give you any of the finished product if you didn't. 
The only thing special I remember about it is that they used cinnamon oil. Little tiny vials of it. |
This is gonna be applesauce weekend for us.
This year I'm gonna make apple butter too. Didn't make it last year. I'll dig up the recipe for ya. I'm doing it the easy way though.......letting the sauce cook down overnight in a turkey roaster. No standing around the cauldron for us, thank you very much.

| I went to this site: LINK and used their recipe for Pear Butter... Their Apple Butter recipe looks to be the same... The Pear Butter came out good.. |
