how about using these with mylar sealed bads for food? I use one now just with a plastic bag inside to keep the rice that we use, nothing long term but thinking if it works it would be great. any thought?

they really are not needed , just personal choice really IMHO. maybe have 1-2 on hand to swap between buckets when you get to rotating any preps out way down the road.

I have a couple on hand. When I tap into a bucket, then the gamma lid goes on. But prior to that I stick with the standard lids. Not cost effective to put gamma lids on everything and not neccessary.

I only keep them on the buckets I am using out of.
