Does anyone out there have a source for pilot biscuit/hardtack OUTSIDE of Alaska? Sailor Boy and Yukon are two prominent brands made by Interbake Foods. They are quite a bit less expensive than Mountain House or Richmoore but it would be nice to hold down the shipping cost by buying in the lower 48. BTW you can thank Sara Palin for bringing this topic to mind.

Used to see them in Montana in the small towns away from main roads. Also add royal cream crackers smaller than pilot but more moist and made with butter.

I'm not aware what a pilot biscuit is.
But hardtack comes from your oven,  consult google for hundreds of recipes.
