I've been kicking around the idea of putting up some LLRP-style meals for backpacking or SHTF traveling rations. I like the ProPak MH meals and they are same as LLRPS but I'd like to add someting like the old MRE dairy shakes alongside to bulk up the calories. Those aren't available anymore since the salmonella scare. Is there such a thing as a nutrition shake that tasts good and only need water, rather than milk added?

In exchange for information I'll offer my favorite trick along those lines: add a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast, dry milk for 1cup liquid and instant cofffe, (optional) to an MRE beverage bag. Drop in a flexible straw and seal the bag. To use, add water, shake to mix and drink through the straw.

I could do this but I'd feel safer storing a ready-made product and not having to hassle with preparation in an emergency.

I'm pretty sure I can get accessory packs. I know I can get dried soup, (such as Lipton) and drink mixes such as Wylers, peant butter packs and MRE crackers or cookies, peanut Munch bars, etc. but I'd relly like to have the shake if such a thing can be had.

Thanks.

Have you looked at weight gainers?  Powered mixes lifters use to put on mass...... I'm an optimum nutrition fan boy so I'd recommend looking at their offerings.  One thing to know about supplements is not all are created equal, if you bought some in the paste from say walmart and thought they tasted like shit, it's because they did  taste like shit ha

That might be just the ticket, calories are what I'm after. I'll check it out.
