An employee of mine did not pack lights for a confined space job, and I had to ask a very important customer for a light, he lent me two of his own personal lights.

My employees lost them, and I want to replace them as a gesture of good will.

Can somebody recommend some good flashlights?  His were medium sized, about the side of the neck of a beer bottle.

I want quality, maybe even rechargeable, led lights.  I would like to spend about 50-75 each.

Thanks!

Fenix UC30 or UC35. They are both rechargeable via micro USB. Great lights that can put out 970 lumens on the top end.

You really should find out what they lost.
I have non Surefire lights that are worth much more than 75 bucks since they aren't in production.

Goodwill lights in your budget would be the following.

very classy

Higher output 2xAA format

Although batman is a Fenix fanboy and one trick pony, you might want to get him two of the UC35/UC30s, since they come with a cell, are rechargeable using a USB port, have a user replaceable battery and you don't have to fiddle with a stand alone li-ion charger.  The lights have good output and mode spacing and they're pretty bright.  Worse comes to worse, you can run two CR123A primaries in either.

If the $90 (UC35) is too much per light (retail,) get him two of the UC30s for $60. In fact, looking at the specs, just get him two of the UC30s, as they're pretty much identical.

I do like you, I do enjoy reading your posts and I too am a Fenix fan, with three of their lights: P1D, PD32 and HL30.  All are good products IMO, even though I don't use any of them daily.

I agree that if you're going to replace unknown lights with li-ion based flashlights, get them with an internal charger, because this is probably the simplest way to go about it and I'm not a fan of FLs with internal chargers, preferring to use dedicated stand alone chargers.  I am a battery/charger geek, so that's part of the charm.  Others might not want to muck with this stuff.

The UC30 seems like a cost effective way to go.

Check out these guys also http://www.midwestflashlight.com/products/flashlights.html

They seem to have some kind of sale going on most of the time.
Fenix fanboy here also.

I'd ask him what lights he had?
Personally that would really piss me off;
A) a contractor didn't bring all his gear
B) he borrowed my gear and lost it/fucked it up

Streamlight polytacs are bright and bombproof. I think they may be rated intrensically safe (which is the proper light for confined space) but youll need to. Check that. And they are 30 bucks each. For 50 plus you can get the poly stinger.

I'm seeing some pretty decent prices at http://www.fenixgear.com/  also if you have interest in the Fenix lights.
Midwest Flashlight carry several brands; I've read that a lot of people like NiteCore also.

Other poster touched on it.

Were the lost lights ok for confined space?

I got a yellow pelican 2c cell light just for that purpose.

Likewise.. I was pissed at my guys.  I just took over the ops manager position, I trusted them when they said they were ready, and the first time I meet the facilities manager (who handled 100+ stores) and we are made out to look real unprofessional.  I showed up and see guys not in uniform, safety violations left and right, no lights, etc.
I can assure you, that will never, ever happen again.

I hear 'ya.  BTDT (good help is hard to find - lol).
I've trusted them also; and got left holding the bag (my fault for not double checking).
It got to the point where I'd make a list and tell them to make sure everything on the list was in the gear boxes.
Then I'd check, get it myself if it wasn't up to par (and let them see me get it ).
Life would be unrelenting hell for them for the duration of the job; 3 days - 2 months depending on the job.
They knew if things were right, life was good and I took care of them.  But jack me around, and they would learn what the word suck means.
Next time we met up and if they were on a suck job; my new crew's gear was squared away without me checking.  The word gets around.
I've been on both sides of the fence.
I like it a lot better on the side I'm on now.
