I got one of these when they first where offered. I also have the modular sleep system.
Its huge! But I have it filled already and need a bit more room for a BOB bag. For just camping/hike, its perfect. I use one sustainment bag for a truck bag. I like the frame and the way it sits on me. The shoulder straps are comfy and very durable. The quick release is a great idea and I've tested it in a "fallen and can't get up" type of thing. Molle straps everywhere, I can add more if I want, but I'd do it evenly to balance the weight of course. I put paracord in the internal flap/separating area to help support the bag. I swear you could carry a small jerry can in this and not squish the sleeping bag. Let's see.. When I got the bag it had a tag attached by wire from a female officer. I had to adjust the bag for my frame and I also tucked and wrapped the straps after I was done so they didn't hang. If you guys have any questions, I'm sure I could answer them. I have never written a review but I'm going to once winter hits. I need a full year loaded for a real test. :) |

Might want to check up on these folks on the Industry forum Link |

These packs are fine for their intended purposes. Simply a MOLLE II pack in a different color. The separator between the sleeping bag compartment and the main compartment has a thick-toothed zipper to close it up, as well as some Velcro flaps on the sides of the divider. The divider also has grommets through which the user can thread 550 paracord. This can be done to augment the zipper, and also, if a sufficient length of paracord is used, to adjust the divider to allow more room in either the sleeping bag compartment, or the main compartment. The newer MOLLE frames, marked 1603, are armor-friendly.
If one really wants Multicam, then go for it. Be advised that the Army is transitioning to this camo pattern, so these MC packs should be getting more common (and so reduced in price) as time goes by. The packs in UCP can be easily dyed, assuming they are taken completely apart, and all the components are dyed at the same time, so as to match. Unless you have a HUGE stock pot, the shoulder straps and waist belt will need to be dyed separately I have found that UCP seems to dye best with a mixture of 4 parts Rit Apple Green dye to one part Rit Dark Green dye, which gives a very nice greenish digital camo pattern. Rit Taupe dye can also be used on the UCP camo, giving a brownish digital camo pattern, but might best be used on the 3-color desert camo,; the latter, if done properly, giving a shade fairly close to Coyote Brown with some of the darker camo splotches still being visible.. In short, there are alternatives to the MC MOLLE pack, some of then a good deal cheaper and no different in design/function. |

It's crap. Has a plastic frame. Seen a few of them break when jumping out of aircraft (though none lately). I've also seen part come off that creates problems, such as there is a buckle on the front that you can hook a strap into to cinch the ruck up tight on each side, SEVERAL rucks in my unit are missing that.
If I had mine here I'd take the pictures and show you, but mine is at the armory so I'll have to borrow a buddies when I get a chance. I recommend checking out TAG or Tactical Tailor "MALICE" packs. You can even get the old ALICE pack and have them customized. If you like the newer rucks go for it. |

Maybe that's why we haven't had any break in awhile. I know after deployment the unit had to go through BAR to get back into jump status and for awhile they said we couldn't jump them. They are nice, but the favorite among my unit is the MALICE packs. Still, small parts do come off/break off so you have to go through and either tape or tie down certain things. I've had mine since 2011/2012 and have been fairly lucky it's held together better than others. |

You can't go wrong with a US issue large ALICE with frame. As long as you don't plan on humping it anywhere.
Seriously though, those things are terrible. I have one I converted to a trapping pack and it does a good job at that, but I would never want to carry one loaded for any amount of time. |

I've had pretty good luck with them on 5 continents, 3 war zones, I've humped, jumped, and even swam them. I even used them a little bit in SFQC and Ranger school. I guess I never had to carry one THAT far, though. |

That being said, none of them are $100, they are much higher for a good one. This is a great product and a great price, from a great vendor. Hard to beat!

This is a great product and a great price, from a great vendor. Hard to beat! You can get an ILBE for $100 and it is way more comfy than the ALICE. To be fair I have never tried an ALICE with the hellcat modification, but they are still very round, compared to the more practical vertical style. |

Hell, a recent vintage MOLLE pack bests it as well. Much more comfortable suspension. |
