| Those things have been around since the apallo at least. They reflect radiant heat and keep you warm. Are their any light weight blankets that use those as an inner liner or does the material not last when its folded and crumpled under constant use? |

Most durable 'space blanket' out there. http://www.bestglide.com/All_Weather_Blanket_Info.html
Best version of the ul space blanket. quiet and much more tear resistant. |

Quoted: Think I need to clarify. It seems like a good way to make a light weight but warm blanket for camping. Those silver mylar blankets are not going to be good for that. They are "one or two times" use only. You probably want a casualty blanket, emergency bivvy blanket (the orange on one side silver on other side type) or something of that nature. Realistically though, if you are camping, you probably want a sleeping bag with temp rating suitable for your habits and climate.

My daughter has spent some time inside her casualty blanket with a cheap fleece throw around her shoulders. Makes sled riding trips more enjoyable. |
