Not quite "survival" but... Looking for a high quality, lightweight backpacking tent, cheap?

It's plenty roomy for (2) 23" pads and roomier than I expected. Tip: the 6oz footprints keep popping up on steep&cheap for $25-28, a tyvek footprint on ebay would run me $20 and be a couple oz heavier.

Walmart seems to be clearing out freeze dried foods. A friend and I cleaned out 2 WM near us.

There are hundreds of reasons to own a gun but it’s mostly the reasons I can't think of that make me glad to have them.
From the wallmart sale. I think it ended up being 65 bucks or so which seemed way high to me. I guess even sales add up in quantity. Did I do OK? This was my first time buying mountain house NOT in #10 cans so I wasn't sure about the value.

This is like a slightly larger Falcon 3 backpack with an internal frame, padded and ventilated back and waist belt. One of the pockets converts to a belt pouch. Very feature rich, have had mine for about two weeks. I have several Falcon 2's that are great fast and light packs for on the move activities (like running or riding a motorcycle) but one thing I didn't like was that they could be slightly larger for long weekends when I am traveling because I could only get two summertime changes of clothes inside, plus the usual toiletries and laptop. This pack fixes that, still has a thin, low profile, and is airline carry-on compliant. Seriously good deal on a bulletproof pack you'll use for years. These are low sodium MREs. They all have brown sugar pop tarts, crackers, jelly and low salt entree. I have had all of the entrees and they are all edible but I would highly recommend a lot of hot sauce regardless of which one you are eating. Also have heaters and I think I had about 95% success rate with them. Only a couple times did they not heat the meal up enough. |

Amazon has the Baofeng UV-5R5 handheld dual band Ham transceiver on a lightning sale today for $26.99.
It might not be my first choice for a Ham radio but it would be OK for a backup or a cheap way to decide if Ham radio is for you (so long as you don't transmit without a license). I bought one a year or so ago as a backup. It does the job. |
