Picked up a Eureka Solitaire tent today for my BOB.  Unpacked it and took a look at all the components.  Seems to be exactly what I need.  Read some good reviews online and watched a few YouTube videos.  Does anyone here use this tent or have any experience with it?

I have one. It's to small. Not enough room for my pack. Kind of hard go get in and out without crawling on hand and knees. Can't sit up in it.
It is better than a bivy bag though.

I recently purchased a Eureka Spitfire which is slightly more weight, and only slightly larger packed size, but much larger interior.

I have not used it yet, just set it up once to look at it.  It has quite a bit of room for its' weight.

I did a solo backpacking trip a few years ago with a Solitare.  It worked great until it rained.  I stayed dry, but all my gear was soaked by morning.  Its nice because it packs so small, but the other side of that coin is there isn't room for much besides your body in there.  After that trip I got a Kelty Grand Mesa 2.  It doesn't pack as small, but I like it a whole lot better.

Funny, I just posted a pic of mine in another thread!

I bought one last year & took it on a 4 day backpack trip. I really liked it - super light, kept dry in some light rain. There is room for you and a few things, but a full size pack may not fit in it. The Eureka Spitfire is a good option to get the same tent with more room, if its available.

Just pack a couple contractor grade trash bags with you to protect your gear on the outside of your tent.

Tent works real well in the rain with proper positioning and well in the very cold.  Had it down to about 19 degrees.   As far as keeping a pack dry that's what a pack cover is for.  Cover your pack and hang it on a tree.

As a long-time camper and sometimes backpacker, its been my experience that the true capacity of a tent is 1 less than the stated capacity.

IOW, get a light 2-man tent for yourself.  The Spitfire looks too small to me (but better than the Solitaire.)  The Kelty Grand Mesa 2 looked good.  REI's half dome and equivalents are fine.  I'm happy to carry the extra pound to have the ability to keep some gear in the tent, and sit up, etc.
