My brother gave me one for Christmas this past year. Seems ok, but since it doesn't mount to a weapon, i just tossed it in the car with a couple extra batteries. Seemed like a decent enough light, but I have a rechargeable Streamlight I use around the house, camping, deployed and such..... The batteries aren't cheap.....

The TK12 can easily be mounted to a weapon with a mount and the batteries are $2 a piece with free shipping over $20 from 4sevens.com. Now that the bad information has been corrected we can move on to brass tacks.

I do not like the user interface on the TK12. The different modes and combinations don't agree with me at all.

If you want a weapon light the TK11 is a better choice. The TK15 should also be able to go into a weapons mount, but you have to leave the light on the correct level before you turn it off or you won't know what level it will come on in. The TK11 R5 is either bezel tight or bezel loose. 285 or 60 lumens. Both levels are bright enough to get the job done. The TK12 in the default mode would work out pretty well for a weapon light, but the other modes do nothing for me.

The TK35 is a better working light. I absolutely love mine. The run time is unbelievable with the two 18650 or four 123 batteries. If you plan to use this light a lot buy the AW 18650 2900 MaH protected lithium Ion batteries. Those and the charger are available from 4sevens.

I really really like the 35, I am having a hard time justifying that kinda $$ but right now....but I am sick of grabbing one of my Mag lights [4d] and still can't see what I need to from a distance..[1/2 -3/4 acre ] or so  and that may be a stretch for the 35 also.  It couldn't be that I am gettin older

The protected batteries mean protected from overcharge? ....decisions decisions ............

Protected from over discharge. You should not use the protection circuit to know when to recharge. Its better to keep lithium ion's topped off as much as possible. They don't have memory.

The reach on this light is not quite the same as a spot light, but it is pretty impressive.

If this is your first decent LED light, you will be BLOWN AWAY with the performance of the TK35 and it's run time. Top off all that with not ever having to buy batteries and it's a win win. I find having good rechargeable batteries makes me more comfortable using my light vs one that's burning up money with expensive batteries. I always had this conserve attitude when using non rechargeable at my the expense of my safety or whatever other reason I needed light at the time.

As mentioned before, if you want a weapon mountable light, get the TK11. Another awesome light for the money and if you don't want to spend the extra for a TK35 the TK11 is my second choice.

+  1 on the TK11
I have one (not weapon mounted)
Very brite good run time

I have:

TK30
TK15
TK11

They are all very bright and seem quality made.

I agree the TK11 would be the best weapon light.

Fenix is the best deal going right now for quality LED flashlights IMHO.

They have Lithium CR123A's for $1.60 each, $1.30 in bulk, and there's an additional percentage off if you have a candlepowerforums.com screen name. They are protected, and are made in the U.S.A. as OEM by a big-name maker.

I have a TK12 R5 and LD10 (older Q4 or 5?).

I like the modes and interface on the TK12.  I commonly use the 120/12lum mode (looks like they downgraded that to 95/8lum, but whatever).  The med-high (120/95) is more than enough for some serious illumination within about 40yds.  The low setting (12/8lum) is plenty bright for casual vision at night.  On the 280/245lum mode, I could probably ID a person at close to 100yds.

The LD10 is much smaller, and it uses soft clicks to switch modes, except for turbo.  Personally, I like the TK12 interface a lot more.  I'd rather have a twist choice between two modes than soft clicks between three.  Also, the switch on the LD10 does not allow for momentary on, which I find useful on the TK12.

check out the quark tactical line. Both the bezel tight and loose modes are programmable. You have your simpler UI, but can still choose the brightness levels.

The TK35 will melt those letters off at 1000yrds I wouldn't buy a light now days that's not capable of running on the 18650 cells and only use CR123 for backups.

Is there a Fenix that can use AA's AND 18650's?

There are different milli amp hours of capacity. The higher the better most of the time. I am using the AW 18650 2900 MaH. This means that it will supply 2.9 amps at the rated voltage for 1 hour. They have a flat top, but they work in the Fenix no problem. They have a list of the lights they work with on the site.

I would just consider ordering everything from 4sevens and be done with it. If you have a candle power forums screen name you get 8% off and shipping is free. They are not the lowest all the time, but they are great to deal with.

I don't know what the best charger is. I bought the one 4 sevens used to sell and its been great. They are supposed to sell a better one now.

So the Mah does NOT effect the light at all except the longevity of the charge? OK so that gets rid of a little of the confusion, I will call 4 sevens and ask about the charger, I do want to be able to hook this all up to a Solar panel at some point.

Make sure there is a battery in the system so you don't have funny voltage fluctuations going into the charger.
