Sure this question has been asked before.  Im looking for suggestions on a grain mill.  Would like to get an electric one that can also be used manually (if thats possiable).  Also, any good information on sources of grain and storage materials would be great.  Thanks in advance..

Lehman's sells a good heavy duty grain mill.  What are you using your grain for?  Hard white wheat berries make very good bread with the right recipe.  I store mine in FoodSaver bags and freeze them for  hours (this kills the bugs that are in the grain) and then store them in Rubbermaid tubs.  I have heard some store in plastic bucket with mylar bags inside.

Check out the Family Grain Mill. A number of people on the board use one and speak highly of them.

This is what you want. Seems expensive to you get it and see how well it works and how tough it is. You will be able to put this baby in your will.

Can a malt mill for brewing be used as a flour mill?  Thanks

check out the website for family grain mill posted above.

A good mill that has a flywheel w/belt grove is gonna run $250-+300; yea, they're not cheap
but cheap stuff don't last, plus it's not a real big seller, so the makers of the
better mills don't sell enough to lower the price.

A friend found a good used one on the bay, but I'd make sure you know the diffrent
models & their features; some have stone grinding wheel, some metal burrs (not as
good as stones).

the trickest one I saw had a drive belt hooked up to an old excersise bike, with a kid peddal'n hard
for some bread.

I can understand an electric mill for everyday use, but if this is as part of your emergency preparedness the power will likely be out when you need to use it.  Just a thought.

IIRC, mills for brewing crack the grains as opposed to grinding them.

I got one that's manual with a provision for adding an electric motor via a drive belt.  Here's the link to the thread:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=10&f=19&t=633189
