Does anyone have one of these?
Wondering if they are any good? LED Flameless Flare Link |
| Great idea, but the technology isn't quite there yet. Show me a side-by-side comparison with a regular road flare, and I promise the road flare puts out a ton more light. That thing could barely illuminate the map 3 inches away when being used as a map light. You're going to bet your life that it's visible to motorists whizzing by at 70 MPH? |

My department has tried a few of the flare alternatives over the past decade....revolving LEDs, etc. While they may have specific uses where they are better than flares, I still believe in using the traditional road flares where possible. ditto. the ones we have suck for the actual replacement of flares. they don't have the balls for daylight operation and at night they aren't intense enough for a highway type setting. these may have applications for other things, like marking a car to find later in the dark on a two-track in the woods or whatever, but to actually replace a flare, no way. thanks to the OP for the heads up on the find though. |

I have tried these, which I love. More expense though but has more features
