The ITP Eos lights are around $20 and they are absolutely tiny. The maratac is just as small, but the workmanship is not as good. Both are AAA single battery.

Here

I've got one. Other than the machining of the body, it is the same light at the Maratac AAA. This makes sense, as I think ITP was making the lights for Maratac.

The ITP EOS is grooved instead of knurled like the maratac, so it is a bit slicker. I like the design better because it has a split ring loop machined into the body rather than relying on the Maratac's cheesy wire attachment.

Honestly, I think ITP is turning out the maratac lights as fast as they can to keep the margin up. The ITP versions seem to have tighter threads on the head. It cannot tail stand, but the key attachment is much tougher so it won't slip off and disappear on you.

Most people who see these lights freak out at how small they are for the amount of light they put out. Pretty impressive. I am going to probably buy the Illuminati light. An upgraded, titanium version of this light.

How does it compare to the rest of your impressive collection in terms of quality/reliability?

I have the Maratac AAA, and I have to say... neat little light!

I am just so stoked to have such a powerful light on my keychain with me at all times. I always liked the idea of having a light on me. Most key chain lights, however, all appeared to either be too large and bulky, or only had one mode (usually a very dim mode, only useful for really really close work).

These lights, however, have three very useful modes. The 1.5l mode is great for doing close work, and I suspect in a survival situation at night... might make a decent navigation light (to see where your stepping), and it lasts a LONG time. 18l provides you with a stronger light, with decent battery life. 60l, is good for whenever you need a super-bright "Tactical-level-brightness" light. By itself, would make a great flashlight.... but better yet it does so while remaining very small and being able to comfortably fit on your key chain. I might consider buying my dad one of these for fathers day, (and a couple other nifty Keychain tools, likely a PicoPen).

I still think the Fenix LD01 Q5 is a better light as far as build quality and brightness. The ITP/maratac is half the price.

So do I wait to be disapointed that none of these showed up in my stocking, or do I just pull the trigger so that I can drop it in myself?

Drop it in yourself. If your house is like mine, hell will freeze over before you get something cool that you really want.

no 80 lumens, but very reliable, very bright for the size (more of a flood type light) and long lasting on the batteries. have a few, very happy.

Batteries cost more than the light. The maratac is nearly the same size and uses AAA batteries that cost the same a one of the 4 lithium button batteries.

while the AAA will be cheaper and easier to find, i bought an 8 pack of the buttons a little while ago at walgreens for $2-$3. more $$$ than the AAA, but definately not more than the light.

Is that price a normal price or a lucky find? I have not seen them that cheap at any store I stopped at.

honestly i don't remember. they are the Walgreens brand however, which may have something to do with it. they've lasted quite a while though. longer than i expected from an in-house brand. i'll check the next time i go there and let you know.

I found the batteries for the streamlight Keymate at Bass Pro shops for about $3.50. I honestly did not know they could be had that cheap.

Picked up a nano just for the hell of it. Its a neat toy! Bright little bugger. Won't replace anything for me, but it will hang nicely on my pack.
