Im looking for a decent pair of binoculars or a powerful monocular.  I realize when it comes to quality optics you get what you pay for in most cases.  But are there any decent binoculars for $50 to $100?  Ive always just had a cheap pair of Bushnells that have worked fine but i'd like to upgrade a little.  Lets see your ideas and help me spend some money!  Thanks!

Look at Nikon.  Some of the best glass for the money IMO.

I think you need to up your spending limit. $125-$150 will buy a really nice set and $225 will buy an extremely nice set.

You might shop around at outlet places and closeout places.  You might well be able to find a $150 set for around $100.

The lower end Steiner binos are pretty nice.  Around $230.  Look at the Military/Marine set.  I've used them and they are nice.

The Nikon Action Extreme ones are nice and have a bunch of models.

Check SWFA.

+1 for Nikon.  I paid about $75 for my set (new) and they're great.  Can't remember the exact model, but their an intermidiate size, and the difference over Bushnell (and the like) is amazing.

I do like my small nikons.  Very good glass.  Not sure the price, as they were a gift, but they are usually worth the money.  There are other good binos out there, Im sure someone will come along and suggest something that the birdwatchers like, they appreciate good glass.

How about $100 to 200?  Czech, Hensoldt or Kern surplus binoculars from Deutscheoptik.
