I bought a 7x16 H & H enclosed trailer for SHTF/Hunting use.  Figured it would be a good place to keep all of my gear together and relatively mouse proof.  And it will be easy just to hook on and go, instead of trying to gather things together at a moments notice.  I am going to put some shelving/cabnitry in on the left side of the trailer, leaving enough room for 2 Yamaha Kodiak 4 wheelers.

My question is what all should I stock in this trailer that is MUST HAVE items.  Right now, it is just sleeping bags, wall tent, smaller tent, cots, 20gal gasoline, misc small camping gear.

Would it be worth while to add a few batteries and a solar charger for limited use electircal items?  Any other thoughts would be good.

lot of options there---that's a big trailer. You could pretty much load that baby up and be set. sounds like you got the dough to do it, so why not keep a genny or two in there, extra firearms{other than your primary}--maybe in those iron closed Brownells bags with the dessicant in them, I would basically make it a smaller version of all my preparedness items, just in a trailer---and definatley secure everything very well----don't forget water or a couple good filters....and maybe a large camo net to cover it all

I'd sleep right inside the thing if I needed to.  Pull the four wheelers out and inflate a few camp matresses.  You could even build a couple of bunks that swing down or even a few cots.

thats what i did with mine. I built a shelf up front for my kitchen area and a queen bed in the back for after the rhino is out.  also a storage area on the floor under the kitchen shelf that holds a battery and inverter on one side and water storage on the other.  i bought a  honda 2000 to keep the battery charged and heater buddy for the winter that keeps it quite cozy.

lets see some pics!!!
I have been looking at getting a pop up style camper, but if the right price came along for an enclosed i would have to jump on it... I think you could make a good camper/BOTrailer out of one

Oh man do I have ideas!

You are doing something that is on my wish list.  Right now not including boat trailer, I'm just using a small open trailer.

What I would really like to do is have a small enclosed that would haul my bike and ATV (both small vehicles), mount two fold down cots on both sides, do a cut through in the front for a very small air-conditioner, and then mount a gear storage box like a Tuff box on the tongue.  Of course a very basic AC electrical system would be on the inside, power in outlet outside, box, light and outlet. Mount a 12 battery in a box (haven't quite got this all figured out maybe in the gear box) and cigarette plug with the battery wired to a maintenance/fast charger like a small boat charger. I could cross wire the battery to the electrical system and a small inverter for when I don't have AC.   I could then haul the vehicles and a small genny if needed.  A roof vent with fan would also be added for both cooling when no AC power is available and venting.  Used of course with a big mosquito net for leaving the doors open.

Kind of a miniature toy hauler.  It would be fantastic for hauling stuff, unloading, riding, then a fast overnight sleeping place in pretty good comfort.  Throw in the portapotti and a water jug and you have all the comforts without sacrificing.  The best part is if done right the space to do all this wouldn't be much more than simply hauling a large tent and certainly nothing to the setup or tear down.

We've had a couple threads on this idea and I've talked to folks like Ops on it quite a bit so its on my wish list.

I was always taken with the idea of having a trailer available for everyday use, but having emergency gear on a pallet that could be quickly loaded into the trailer. That seems the best of both worlds to me.....access to the trailer on an as needed basis, but also providing a quick way to load essentials on and go.

I'd vote for putting in a battery system, solar or not, particularly if you plan to live in the trailer at all. That way you can run a couple of lights and perhaps a fan for limited amounts of time without having to break out a genny.

The trailer we recently bought is wired up that way and has a hot lead going to the truck connection that trickle charges the battery while the truck's running. The battery also powers the pump for the water tank which is a nice feature.

My son and I "camped out" in this trailer two nights ago and had a great time.......lacks a toilet and a shower, but that can be taken care of eventually.

I will definitely have to rig up two fold down bunks/cots.  Anyone have and plans or ideas for making them?  I will post some pics of it shortly.
