I recently had the opportunity to drive across country and back. Went East via Denver to Atlanta. Came back via I-40. Living in CA, I am always on the prowl for cheaper ammo and did quite a bit of shooting with friends along the way. While I was gone, the CA legislature announced another one of their goofy plans to curtail gun rights by putting incredible restrictions on ammo sales. Therefore, I was even more than usual interested in finding good prices. I stopped at just about every Wal Mart along I-40, plus several in CO, and I stopped at 2 Bass Pro shops. FWIW, the Wal Mart on I-40 in Albuquerque, NM, had, by a fair margin, the cheapest prices for the stuff I wanted. .30-'06, 12 GA slugs, #4-#6 shot and 00, .38 Special, .357, .45 ACP and 9MM were the calibers I concentrated on. They also had the best assortment I found anywhere. Now, of course, I need new shocks on my SUV, but it was worth it. I hope this helps someone a little bit. |

Combining ammo acquisition with road trips is a fairly common theme mentioned on Mark from Michigan's wednesday radio shows. He frequently gives tips of what is available where. Wednesday's program streaming audio archive link |
Hey, That's great. Thanks! |
If obama or hillery get there way, no more semi autos of any kind, no bulk ammo, restricted and registered ammo purchases, tracking of reloading components, ect. Wally world price check, 22lr bricks up $3 in the last month, now at $20 |

Dad used to always say that back int he day. He said "boys there is a 100 year supply of guns and a 1 year supply of ammo. Stock up when you can" Another thing he said and Im sure his friends thought he wore a tinfoil hat " Someday they will have a camera on every street corner". These things are coming to pass rapidly. He was a visionary the ol' man was. Really though its easy to forecast this shit. History being our barometer and all, |
That's a supply and demand/price of metals. I'm talking about resrictions on how much you can poccess, such as no more than 100 rounds in your poccession; including components. Or taxes on ammo that are so high that rifle and pistol ammo becomes out of the reach of most people. Imagine 20 rounds or .223 costing $150? |
