Guys, somebody posted a URL a while back where you could click on everything you wanted your genny to be able to run, and then figure out how big a genny you needed for peak and sustained loads. Well, my tax refund is more than likely buying the generator for the new house, and I don't want to lowball it. Anyone know the URL? I can't seem to find it.

Huh, looks like I'm looking like 13K watts. I seem to remember running an entire HQ building in Iraq off a trailer-mount 10K.

I'm going to have to disagree with the computer rating. 600-800 watts is a little much not counting a monitor which it doesnt seem to do.

I run everything in my home I want with my 6700watt Mitsubishi gas generator.  because I read and belived all the, IMO, BS, about how many watts you NEED... I only put in a 6 circuit transfer switch.  Thinking I couldn't and wouldn't be able to run any more.  I could easily add the rest of the lighting in my home and whatever else I needed to and not have a problem. it draws bubkiss when everythings hummng along and not as much as they said it would when it starts...  if everything.......everything..... turned on and drew max at one time I'd have a problem, maybe.... but that just doesn't happen...  but as always YMMV

Well, I figure there's an element of "sell them more than they need" with any of those sheets, but I'm looking at a full size fridge and freezer, the furnace blower in winter, maybe the AC in summer, maybe the microwave. 13K is a bit much I think, but the hell with it. Better to spend an extra 500 bucks for the peace of mind. If I was really paranoid, I'd get a pair of 7500s rather than a single 13-15K for the redundancy.

I think redundancy is a good idea.  It's not your money anyway right?    But then you might have people there to fix the generator right away if it ever goes down.
