I was curious to know if/where/when any company is offering survival classes to the open public. I received survival training in the military and thought it would be a good idea to have my wife and kids take a course. If there isn't a company out there that teaches survival then does anyone know how hard it would be to get started teaching the public myself on what I have learned? (i.e. certifications, etc.) |

They are all over the place, the trick is to find a good one. I have attended the Midwest Primitive Skills Institute and I can tell you as far as primitive skills goes, he is excellent. His website is http://www.survivalschool.com and he is located in Ohio. It is a very low intensity, non military program, but you get all of the basics, shelter, fire, water and food. He also does private work if an off the shelf class doesn't fit your needs. The owner, Tom Laskowski is a great guy and incredibly knowegeable on wilderness skills. |
