Miniature Technical Tool Kit

Put this kit together about 8 years ago.

Purpose is to capitalize on my own skills fixing small/miniature stuff, oriented toward electronic and small mechanical, but not limited to, so it might not be optimized for other folks.

For example, this kit would allow me to clean a Honda carburetor, even tho not config'd particularly for this.

Will be happy to comment on contents and reasoning for including various items...

[A soldering iron/desoldering/accessories is incl in a separate kit]

+1.  That kit would sell well if on the open market.

I keep all those small tools in my big tool box, however I don't have a small carry case such as yours. If the SHTF I'm bugging in unless I absolutely have to go.
In that case I'm up the pooh pooh creek without a paddle.
Thanks for posting.

Maybe I missed it, but one thing I put in my electronics kit is a magnetic tray for making springs and tiny torx screws less likely to escape to No-See-Um Land. Otherwise, nice kit!

Thanks for the nice comments on the tool kit.

Something I failed to mention is the type of miniature digital voltmeter I selected to go along with it about 8 or so years ago.

Another thing is the pouch that I bought from County Comm. I can't find it on their web site anymore.

There were a few requirements for the DVM back then, one was that it used a battery that had a long shelf life, in this case a 2032 lithium coin cell, and a current range.

It needed to be light weight and thin and compact from a reputable mfgr.

Amprobe makes the meter in a red package and it looks like Greenlee seems to re-label it in a green package.

Here's a video of the one available back then, nowadays Amprobe has 3 similar models with different part numbers on their website and looking quickly, I didn't see any differences..

I think the one I have is model # PM51-A [---red]

Here's a review...

Amprobe PM51-A Pocket Digital Multimeter Review - #0062

Fortunately, I haven't had to use it except to evaluate it long ago...

Incidentally, U-Tuber Joe Smith gets into some great detail in many videos on a lot of DVM's

Here's an unrelated to my topic, example...

Click on his user name and then on his videos for a ton of interesting DVM reviews and stuff.

This is an excellent DVM. I've owned one for over a decade now and it has not failed me and is simple and quick to use. If I need something more robust I break out the Fluke.

Nice kit. Maybe you have them, and I dont see them  :  extendo magnet, more files of different shapes, jumper wires, screw starter, pin vise . My eyes are getting old, so I use magnifying glass that I can position.

Need some canned air duster.

Turn it upside down and you have freeze spray. That is useful for finding dud electronics that stop working once warm (very common). That is how I found that the electronic points eliminator on my 316 had failed.

Too big for our BOB tech tool kit.

I use Dust-Off or similar brand all the time for the purposes you describe.

Actually lead to solving the carburetor problem on the EU2000i genny I need to do a topic on.

No, it didn't find a leaking gasket...  Suspense- you won't believe what happened...

Re the nice little pouch that I posted pix of, my SO just found a slightly larger one with similar pockets and features when she was digging around in her 'extensive collection' of  storage supplies...

I think I'll move everything to it... Since our BO plans have changed since I assembled the kit.

IIRC, I purchased 2 of the first kind from County Com and don't know if the bigger one came from there.

I really like this kind of pouch and C-C doesn't seem to sell them anymore.

Might have to look on eBay.

Good observation!
