| https://www.youtube.com/user/bosnianbill this guy is pretty damn good, any basic pick set will work, if you want to learn single pin picking Id get some hooks in different depths with some decent handles and extra tension wrenches. The snake and bogata rakes are great for bitch picking, and some times the ball and snowman work good on certain types of lock. In short get a basic set watch some youtube videos or get on (i thinks its) lockpicking101.com or something like that and learn basic technique then upgrade later if you like it. |

I have a thread running in GD about the same. Just recently got back into lock picking myself. As the poster above said, BosniaBill has some great videos. Everything from choosing your first pick set to picking some very difficult locks. I picked up a practice lock from here which is a good way to advance your skill. Currently have mine configured with 4 security pins (half spool/half serrated) and its kicking my butt. Also, google MIT Locking picking guide. Its dated, but still a very valuable resource for learning the basis of locks and picking them. ETA: I got my first pick set from Sparrows. The selection of picks is good, but if I were to do it again I would buy the picks individually. Also, spend the extra buck and get the handles. You won't regret it. I am already in the process of buying replacement picks with handles to replace the ones from the kit. |
| My picks are South Ord but I will probably be ordering sparrows next, I just got back into recently also from a couple year break. One thing I always do is pick up locks from garage sales or friends that have them in their garage that they lost the keys to. You can never have too many locks to practice on |
