Does anyone have experience storing 10-15gal of gasoline in less than ideal conditions? Seems like fuel would be the perfect thing to stash for a vehicle run to the BOL.
I have some ratty, but functional MFC's that I picked up at garage sales and flea markets over the years (PA CARB laws Any special considerations for burying the cans or is there a better vessel I should be looking at? (forgot to mention, I have a manual fuel pump to get fuel out below grade) |

Thanks! I'm hesitant to use the MFC's, even the beat up ones, because they are a pain to get in PA. |

You can bury mfcs. Just have someway to clean the neck/cap when you dig them up.a old paint brush will work.
My personal favorite. Beer keg with 2" tri clamp and viton oring. You can bury them-roll t them around, more sturdy than a old oil barrel.i Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

This may or may not work for your needs. I have almost the exact same setup! (See my post in the "what have you done to prep today thread") and I keep my 5 gal. cans below that. The only bad thing I can think of is that damn tank gets HEAVY when I put it up on the rack. And the hose flopping around while transporting it is annoying as well. It's a decent unit- the cap has a good cork gasket, and the hose tap is not directly on the bottom so you don't flow debris and water down the fuelling hose. Still thinking about trading it for 3 or 4, 5 gallon cans. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee403/flytosail3/a4af869f147383a58e4cffd2189d339f_zps790b4fde.jpg http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200584598_200584598?cm_mmc=Google-pla-_-Fuel%20Transfer%20%2B%20Lubrication-_-Fuel%20Caddies-_-29578&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=29578&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=29578&gclid=CMS7p_7np78CFQMT7AodtnoA_g Quoted:

Does anyone have experience storing 10-15gal of gasoline in less than ideal conditions? Yep. Every vehicle in my extended family has a 18-25 gallon gas tank. No tank is ever allowed to drop below the half-empty mark. So, every vehicle has at least 9-12 gallons of reasonably fresh gas in it, at all times - for a combined total of at least 50 gallons. Although some of that gas might be needed for transportation during an emergency, I can't drive more than one vehicle at once - which means that plenty of gas is still held in reserve. |

Rated to 15 gallons. However if it is empty and you try to fill it with three 5 gallon cans you will have some extra. The can under is the "IF YOU USE THIS GAS, YOU GO TO THE GAS STATION ASAP!" reserve gas. |
| Also, use PRI-G in your stored gas. I have used it for years, works fantastic. I have used it to traet a 240 gallon tank that had "gone bad", no small engines would run on the stuff even though it was only a year old.. poured in a bottle of PRI-G, agitated, let sit over night. That gas was good as new the next day. |

I have mentioned these before, but the racing fuel cans could be a good option.
Last 3 I saw on craigslist were $15. Metal and held 12 gallons. Small enough to still be somewhat portable but big enough to be worth filling. They have a screw plug and I'm sure many of the hand pumps will fit the opening. |
