Not sure if it should go here or in survival gear. Amazon App store has SAS Survival guide for free download.

I'm new to this downloading stuff....but any danger in downloading it?  I'm worried about hidden charges and things sneaking on to my phone.

Thanks

amazon app store is GTG. they have a "free app of the day" every day. sometimes its crap but sometimes its really good. i have a shit ton of free full(ad free) apps from them. everything you download is saved to your account on their "cloud" so if you every delete something by accident or get a new phone its still there and still free.

Ok, I just paged through it.  For surviving in the wilderness, assuming you can still access the app and haven't memorized it by the time you need it...it's not bad.  Some useful tactics for water collection, fire starting, shelter building, etc.

I do tend to fixate on the defensive side of situations, so I might be a little biased, but other than defense against the weather/hunger/dehydration...this has nothing about actual defense.  No combat tactics or strategies.  Nothing about setting up barriers/perimeters/alarms/traps(defensive)/etc.  No weapon-making.  No cover, concealment...nothing!  Hell, it didn't even talk about the threat that humans pose in a panic during a SHTF in the "urban" section!!

I figured in the hunting section it might talk about defending against "dangerous animals" such as certain species of bear, wild cats/dogs, etc....nope...just a bunch of insect to look for that would be boy-scouts day one type stuff.

Overall, I'd say it's interesting but not highly enlightening.
