Consider used light towers.
Typically 6kw, 220 & 110, and they are great. Sip fuel. Top notch engines, plentiful parts. Aready have tank and trailer integrated, see ebay for examples and prices. A new one cost abt $7000 at auction, used ones are a fraction of that and with construction in a decline, lots have been available. |

the normal questions of "capacity in KW" and "expected usage profile" and "price range" would help.
are we talking 100KW for a hospital application for less than US$300K? see also, http://www.hardydiesel.com/kubota-diesel-generators.html and http://www.generatorsales.com/kubota-generators.asp ar-jedi |

Here's an example of a 6kw Terex from a reputable seller.
The specs are in the auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Terex-Amida-AL4000-Towable-Light-Tower-6kW-Generator-GenSet-Tier-4-Kubota-/181141833475?pt=US_Heavy_Equipment&hash=item2a2ce50703
I've seen engines with over 15,000 hours still running fine in similar gennys. The example here is from the RSC rental fleet with ~7k hrs, likely maintained on a schedule. The ones I've bought/and or seen, usually nothing has been touched on the engines, even high time ones. Modern diesel engines run a long time w/out issue. Will probably sell for high 2's or low 3's. Ritche auctions is another source that seem to have frequent auctions incl online and where good prices are available. If you need more power, consider something like a Multiquip WhisperWatt, they are very quiet and start out around 7kw IIRC. I've got a 25kw and they have three phase too with complete control panels and switching. These will usually have 4 cylinder name brand diesels and are available from 5k up. Here's a high time unit like the one I had to repair last week after some animals decided to make it their home. Sold for abt $5k recently on ebay.
I think the animals made entrance via the small grill in the panel with the "25" on it. I have no idea how. Here's a new 7kw Whisperwatt to see what they look like. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Multiquip-DA7000SSA1-Portable-Generator-7kW-Kubota-Diesel-Electric-Start-/360579164496?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53f4316950#ht_4919wt_926 |

Look into an Mep003a (10kw continuos load) or Mep002a (5kw) from Govliquidation

| Google "lister engine" if you want a really slow speed fuel sipping diesel! If you have some mechanical apptitude you can get one in great running shape pretty quick. The things last forever, parts are cheap, and they are just fun! Go to utterpower.com and do some reading. Lots of good info over there. |
