Anybody know of a good spot to get emergency / every day use candles?
I'd like to get a few years supply. |

Ask the old ladies at garage sales for the stumps. Some people like "new" candles but don't like them when they've burned half way, so they have a drawer full of them. The more kitchy shit she has out for sale the better the haul. It's basement / garage cleaning season now so you might have good luck. Otherwise, Target / Walmart is your best bet. Amazon.com has a wide selection, as well as liquid candle lamps and other stuff that is dual use.

Do you go to church?
Wait until your church has a candlelight service like on Christmas or Thanksgiving & volunteer to hand out/collect the candles. Churches usually just throw away half used candles. Since you're there to help pick up the used candles, you can also volunteer to haul off the ones that aren't salvageable for future services. I have a drawer full of candles because of this. |

Dollar tree has 6 candles for a buck. They are 3/4" x 6". The wicks need trimmed to 1/4" for the best burn. I use them often. Search my name for my thread on getting the most out of candles. You can even order them by the case online - Free shipping to your nearest store. |
