Okay. I know I suck, but this thing is pretty cool. I like the design. Not sure how long it will last and it is not designed to be used to bludgeon zombies to re-death.
Energizer Folding lantern I bought one just for fun. $40 at Academy Sports. On high this thing is very bright. Smooth area light. Bright enough to read by from a ways away. |

Ha! I have 3 of the older version of these (without the "light fusion" thing) and they are still working fantastically after like 5-6 years. I was wondering when they'd release an updated version, thanks for posting this, because I haven't been able to find anything to replace them.
They fill a great little niche, and this looks like a fantastic upgrade. ETA - looking at the specs... I think this is a larger light than the one it will be replacing for me. I'll still buy one. Looks pretty cool. |

Looks pretty cool. These are nearly the same size as the older versions with the flip out panel. |

So I'm just browsing at the Academy, and there it is. I know it's $5 cheaper on Amazon, but I walk out of the store with one anyway...
I like this thing a lot. It is much lighter and more compact than similar folding lanterns, and I love that it runs on AAs. I've got lots of Eneloops to use with it that I can keep charge with solar indefinitely. The light output is surprisingly good. I am going to test it with 8 fully charged Eneloops soon and see what sort of battery life it really has. |
