We just drilled the well at the BOL and hit an artesian spring. Well is drilled 60' and we're getting about 2gpm at the surface. Not great flow but it's a nice unexpected bonus. Teotwawki and we won't even need a well pump.

My family's farm had one that produced well for years.  Over the past 20 years, more wells  have been dug nearby (a prison was built 15 or so years ago andhas around  4 large wells) and it is no longer artesian.

My moms house has one its about 15 years old they had to put in a drain to the neighbors pond to keep the yard from flooding. A friend of mine use to work for a local well driller he told me that they once drilled a well close to where my mom lives and hit an under ground river. He said that it had so much current that it bent the drill stem and they had to unscrew it and lost the bit and severl sections of drill steel.
