I see that there is a expiration date on the bandages.Do they go bad ? Are they safe to use after the expiration date?

I don't think they've been around long enough to "go bad".....now some of the old OD green ones were so old when we'd use them for training that they had obviously exceeded whatever shelf life they were meant to have....

Store the Izzys well and I think you'll be GTG. They are double wrapped, after all....

Expiration is based on Sterility, the bandage will still be "Clean" but not sterile.
And think about it? when you NEED it you won't CARE if it is sterile, and it will be cleaner than anything else at hand.

Yep, the bandage still WORKS just fine.  The permeable packaging MAY have allowed airborne bacteria to enter by the expiration date.  Nothing to worry about, I wouldn't hesitate to use an expired Izzy.

I opened up a USGI battle dressing from the seventies.  The fabric was stiff like it was starched.  The glue holding the dressing to the bandage was hard and flaking.  The white dressing stained yellow presumably from the glue.

They do eventually expire.  I wouldn't worry about the printed date.

I would say either don't worry about it, or when they reach the expiration date, replace them and use the old one to practice.
