How many people frequent thrift stores looking for deals?

I usually go to a couple each week to browse around. They were very good to me this weekend! I took my wife with to use her old college ID for 25% off on Sundays. Picked up a 5.11 Tactical Side Trip brieface for $4.50, pair of Danner books for me for $4, pair of Merrell boots for her for $8, and 4 Columbia & The North Face jackets for $5-$9 each. The 5.11 case and Merrell boots look brand new. The Danner boots have wear but the outsoles are good and will make a nice pair of truck boots. We went by Bass Pro while out and saw one of the The North Face jackets there for $150, i paid 5 bucks!

This was probably my best find ever at Goodwill. Its a Honda EX650 in cherry condition, picked it up for $40 a couple months ago.

Those are some nice scores

I've bought a lot of electronics from thrift stores in the past: keyboards, tube receivers, monitors, speakers, etc...but usually I just look for wool or cashmere sweaters, old books, and poke at the housewares for cast iron

I'm a big thrift store shopper.  Sportsmans guide show floor is a good place to shop too.  My daughter was a good thrift store shopper until she turned 16.  And now "has a life"..

Damn. Here in NWA the thrift stores don't have much in the way of "nice" stuff. Mostly vintage stuff for the hippy students, and assorted shit that only the Mexicans buy.

Excellent scores!

I've gotten a nicely functioning Coleman 425F dual burner camp stove for $3.99 and a Coleman single burner 400a stove for $2.99 (still in the box).

I posted this elsewhere, but Saturday I got these brand new boots (run $110-145 plus shipping online) for $7.99:

Sometimes people donate things that were owned by a loved one who recently passed away.  They don't know what to do with it and don't feel like selling it so they donate it.  I'm surprised nice things like that make it to the showroom floor, I would think whoever works on the receiving dock would whisk that stuff away.

I have saved tons lately on thrift store shopping.

Brand new Columbia jacket for daughter : $5
Brand new Snow Dragon jacket for son: $5
Assorted kids church, swimming, winter clothes for cheap
Field and Stream ice fishing boots: $10
Pair of Cole Haan dress shoes in mint condition: $19 ($250 new)
Perfect condition Wilson leather coat: $20 (250 new)
All kids snow boots (LL Bean, Kamik, etc: under $5 each
Brand new REI hiking pants with tags on them : $4
Vans snow board boots: $12
Several camo sets for CHEAP
Brooks Brothers dress shirts for $3
Zegna suit for $12 (usually $700)- it fits and is mint
Stafford dress shoes: $3
3 Slumberjack sleeping bags: $5

Even get my prep stuff there.  Got 3 almost new outer frame hiking bags for under $20.  Took my friend the other day and he found a perfect condition Blackhawk bag for $12 (usually $90).

Heck, I buy stuff for friends and they just pay me back.  Why not if its almost new?  We now have a pact to look out for each other (we know eachothers' shoe sizes).  Why spend a lot of money when you don't have to???

Most of my kids' clothes are either hand me downs or from thrift stores.  I have 3 stores by my work (in a NICE area).  I just tell my wife to hold off on buying things from Target till I score at a thrift store.  So, last weekend I got 2 prs of almost new kids Nike skate shoes for $8 together (usually $30 a piece)- fit my son perfectly and he loves them.

I am the master sifter (key is to not waste time on junk)!!

edit- this is the short list of stuff I bought.  We were out in the snow yesterday and everything my kids were wearing was gently used or new from thrift stores.

Thank you to those that love to buy new and donate to me!!!
