My dad built himself a new building last summer and told me I could have one end to put my machine shop in.  I put a wall up giving me a shop area of 20' x 32' with a concrete floor.  I insulated it with spray in icynene (sp?) insulation, put metal up on the walls and the ceiling, installed an air conditioner with a built in heat pump, and painted the floor.  I then had an electrician wire it for 110/220 single phase and also for 3 phase.  The front half will be a welding area and the back half as you can see is for doing machine work.

I know very little about machining, but have several friends who are eager to help me learn!

I'm in the process now of sorting out all of my tooling and getting it organized.  I'll be putting shelves from floor to ceiling on the right wall from where the pics are taken.

Just wanted to share this with all of you.  I feel it makes me a little less dependant on the rest of the world if I need a part, or something welded.

Good start. Nice and clean.
We need a better pic of the lathe. Please tell me that isn't rust on the drill press table.

No, it isn't rust. The guy who owned them before me made a cover out of wood that has a fabric piece made underneath that you soak in oil then lay the cover down when you aren't using them.

They sat in my garage for a little over a year so there is a little rust here and there, but nothing that can't easily be removed.
