is the Mule really worth it? I seem to find it for around 100 bucks and I have a GHB but I am thinking of something if TSHTF as a scouting backpack or recon. but the price seems a little high for such a small pack I bought a camelbak packpack for half of that that is my GHB.

yes, esp on hot days when it keeps the water ice cold.

there's a woodland pattern mule on the ee. No bladder for $65.  I have a desert camo and use it all the time. Love the versatility of the small size

I have an older model MULE and I like it a lot for hiking.  It might be a bit small for a get home bag.

Check out SunnySports for some great deals.

My wife scored a nice pack at a good discount there.  I'm looking to do an order with them for a couple of the Camelbak 70 oz Antidote bladders as they currently have the best price on the net on them.

This!  Shop around!  I picked up a Camelbak Mule at Cabelas a couple of years ago for $25!  It had the old desert camo pattern but is nice for a light hiking bag.

Agree with the above poster.  For a GHB, you might want a bigger bag.

i bought a used MULE in DCU for $25 at a local gunshow. issued, but in excellent condition.

i've had a HAWG for years and it's a size larger and i really like that. it's in the discontinued OD and really nice.

be aware that they make "civilian" packs that are similar sizes, but in bright colors and completely different designs. make sure you see a pic of one or get confirmation that it's the military version if buying online. don't know why they couldn't come up with another name for them since they're NOT the same pack.

i also have an older, but unused BFM in DCU that i got for $25 on CL (not the same design they currently show, but it's a 3-day pack with MOLLE and nice orginazation inside)

I have this

But the mule looks like it would be nice and compact, for quick in and outs.

I bought this for the wife. Storage isn't as much as the MULE but then she doesn't like to carry a lot on our hikes.

I have three generations of the MULE. They're really nice for "local" events.

The MULE is awesome.  I have used it mtn biking, trail running, skiing/snowboarding, even rafting.  It wouldn't be much of a BOB but it's great for outdoor/athletic activities and if you were on a hike and got into a situation you could bring enough in it to take care of yourself.
