This time every year I do a few extra steps when servicing my truck. 1. Clean and check all battery and starter connections also load test batteries ( Bad batteries or connections are the bane diesel owners in the winter) 2. Check the condition of the Block heater plug ( They tend to get damaged or corroded in there non use ) 3. Make sure I have bottles of De-gelling or anti gel ( I use Power service 911 in the red bottle) 4. Double check to verify I have at lest 2 spare fuel filters. ( As it gets colder diesel thickens in which more debris gets suspended in it ) 5. If you have been thinking about going over to a synthetic you will notice a good bit better cold weather start up Little extra time now can save alot of time with the temps start to really drop . |

For the most part no but every now and then we will have a week long real cold snap that would gel non winter blend (20F) which is a good chance of having in home/farm storage tanks and some of the lesser volume diesel sites .Plus we pull a camper a fair bit and have visited colder regions in the winter time . |
| thanks for the update. I actually did service on my diesel today. But I dont think I will worry about the cold temps where I am at. Did take the diesel up to Colorado for a week. and the only thing I did was add windshield cleaner that was designed for cold weather and made sure I plugged in my coolant heater. Worked great the whole time. |
