A member here, midmo, did me a serious solid. He had a particular piece of equipment the wife and I have been looking for for over two years, and had been unable to locate at any price, let alone a decent price.
Found an old ad––I want to say six years old?––using Google search, and found a guy that not only had what I was looking for, but was willing to GIVE to anybody in the Missouri area that wanted to come pick it up––and he was an ARFcom member, to boot! I took a chance and IM'd him, and sure enough––he still had the gear. It was sort of a pain in the ass to tear down and pack up (which is why he offered it for free for local pickup in the first place), but seeing as that he was the kind of guy he was, he went ahead and disassembled, carefully packaged, and took PHOTOGRAPHS of the rack in question to show how it was reassembled, and sent it to me––no charge––in California, at some cost to himself in both time, money, and effort. The wife and I were both delighted to get this thing, and have already put it into use, and I had no problem with sending payment of some sort to midmo. But...midmo ain't like that. Midmo feels that there can never be enough good in the world, and that if I had a mind to, to go ahead and spread some good will of my own. He suggested maybe a couple of well deserving Team Memberships, which I personally feel is a great idea. I really, really value the people in the SF, and this is where I go for sharing, learning, educating, and cameraderie in my chosen "hobby". I've gotten countless information from posters here, and it has been my pleasure to pay my dues here annually. I get much value for my money. So: I'm paying it forward. Fullpower from Alaska and FRCA_WY from Wyoming: You guys need to log out, then log back in. Thanks, midmo. |
