Mods please don't move this to GD...  I'd like to keep this subject on track and have constructive comments
Why is this even being brought up?
I feel this belongs here because it has to do with our history (albeit recent).  Why would it be difficult to teach this?  Radical Muslims led by an ultra radical Muslim led an attack/jihad against the USA.  I understand maybe posing the question of how young do you start to teach about this event, but WTH!  I am so sick of crap and sick of having to tiptoe around subjects because it may offend someone.  Did any of these people think that how it's taught shouldn't even matter.  State the damn facts and tell it how it is.
Some teachers won't even bring it up?!  Some worry it may bring up "controversial issues".  Oh no...  You mean our education system might make kids think hard and long about something other than Jersey Shore, The Voice, or whatever else is on tv?
What is happening?  I would be in my child's history teachers classroom if they didn't bring it up.  This was an event in our history that changed all of us in some way.
It offends me and my ideals that teachers wouldn't bring up this event in a classroom...  Maybe they need to worry about that?  Worry about offending those that know this can never be forgotten.  Gosh I guess while we're at it we may need to rethink teaching about the World Wars because it may offend someone?
This is our history...  Our history is survival and we learn to survive by our history, by our mistakes, and by our accomplishments...
