Getting frazzled with all the crappy economic news and such. It seems like we're in for rockier times. I'm not sure if I should step away and stop fretting for a while, or double down on the zombie pantry to be more ready. |

I have "unplugged" a little in recent weeks. The news can wear you down.
We are in for rocky times, but I continue to resist knee-jerk or panic buying. I am sticking to a steady, deliberate plan for long term possibilities. That said, if you have any gaping holes in your planning/preps, step it up. |

Think of it this way... if the market tanks for a while it'll be a great investment opportunity. I've done pretty well buying low and selling high as the market rises and falls in the last 15 years or so.... I cashed out (mostly, except for some long-term stuff) a while back and have been champing at the bit for a nice crisis so I can buy up solid performers on the cheap. (ok, for me at least... I may be the one guy on arfcom who isn't a self-made gazillionaire... I'm just a self-made middleclass guy, but I have consistently made money in the market over that time) |

absolutely step away for a while. the panick will still be here when you get back. get into a hobby, like shooting or something. Quoted:

I finally realized no matter how much extra I prep, it won't change anything other than having extra stuff put away. All your prepping won't turn the economy around.
Just keep up a decent pace and stay steady. People have been saying the S will HTF since the beginning of time. People have also been saying the world will come to an end since the beginning of time. Just remember to prep AND enjoy life! |

I like he said, every now and then I have to just unplug, but stay vigilent... We have a cabin down in Southen Missouri thats about 2.5 hours from where we live... NO cell phones will reach there and news that gets there is diluted and about Billy Ray Bobs tractor, so its our escape from the Madness... I have to go at least once every month or so, or I get wound way too tight... |

I'm heading up north for a couple days at the family cabin and then a 2 day pistol class on Sunday/Monday, which should hopefully take the edge off. Edgy might be a better term than frazzled. I dunno. Had a somewhat unsat experience with a storm power outage the other day. I'll fire up a new thread about that. |

That is so true, you learn to live and deal with it. I have been hearing about the end of the world for over 50 years...we are still here |

Quoted: I havent watched a newscast for several years, or read more than an individual newspaper article. When the news comes on the radio, I switch channels. I am happier for it. That's the downside of my time spent on Arfcom. I'm immediately presented with every ounce of bad news in the world, as it happens. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes I think it can be a bad thing. |
|
The weakest link in my preps is my physical health/condition. Kicked it into overdrive on a new rowing machine (made in USA) and I'm ordering the 6x6 side plates for the plate carrier (just to have). The SHTF will be a slow roll just like Argentina, but we might end up with some interesting expressions of frustrations from many individuals.
Keep an eye on zerohedge. |

I am ramping it up, too.
Not necessarily because of what we saw today, but what I see as the totality of the circumstances that led to today's festivities, and the responses we are seeing to them. Whatever impact today has had on my planning is a result of the fear factor become a real part of the driving force in the markets and in the minds of people, in general. A frightened herd can be a problem; it reacts without thinking and its actions are frequently self-destructive. |

Dont worry, be happy. Sounds easy. However, I, too, have been hearing doom and gloom forever but we are still here and we will be here till our time is up. Appreciate everything you have and bring your family closer together. It is going to be okay.
Money isnt everything and neither are possessions. Its all about peace of mind for you and your loved ones. |
Ask me how I know.
