Gday gents!

So today is lantern shopping day for me, myself and I!  Just ordered up a coleman duel fuel lantern but as with all things.... I like to have lots of options!  I was wondering if anyone makes some solar powered lanterns that are worth a darn?  Itd be kinda nice to have something that I could just set on the deck during the day and then be able to run for a good 5-7 hours at night?  Just thought itd be a good thing to have..... a self sufficient light source!  My budget is about $75 bucks for this little endeavor... hopefully something with a decent solar cell and batteries can be had for that price.

Thanks guys!

Have you considered buying a few solar-powered lawn lights instead? They go for under 5 bucks apiece - which means that you could probably buy at least half a dozen for the same price as one solar-powered lantern.

That would be my suggestion as well.  You gotta love dual purpose items!

Holy crap!  Didnt even know such a thing existed!  Guessing lows or home depot might have these?how long will they last once it turns dark?  Do they have a on off switch by chance or are u just stuck with light until you cover it up?

Some models are now using just a single AA cell (or worse yet, just one AAA cell). The models that use two AA cells are preferable, IMO - Most of them have a bigger solar cell, and they seem to run longer before the batteries run down. They're also handier for recharging your NiMH AA cells, since you can charge two of them at a time.
