I got a big roll of it for a couple of bucks at Walmart. Go to the section where they sell cording, and look there. I think mine was 100 percent cotton clothesline, if I recall. Works good.

I think if you get some copper tubing and put the rope inside and pinch the ends, you will have a way to make char rope by putting it into an oven or fire.

What about using dental cotton rolls? Some come with a silk thread wrap, but most are 100% cotton.

Sold on Ebay, Amazon, etc... Just Google it. Various diameters available

Nice video.

Next project, try dipping a piece of charcord in a saturated solution of KNO3 [some grocery stores have/used to have it for canning], drying it and lighting it.

Be very careful. That wil get your fire going fast!

Also, with the price of cotton going through the roof, now might be a good time to get some GOOD clothes line.

You must have gotten something other than what I mentioned. =) I've made about 30 feet of char cord with the stuff I referenced, and it works fine. Mine didn't have any sort of synthetic core, it is 100% cotton.

I found this place on the net. 100% cotton 1/4" solid braid or three strand is .10 cents a foot. Shipping was $5.50 and would cover at least 250 feet of rope.

Thoughts?
