| There was a thread here a while back about carrying a fire steel in the elastic side of the new style leatherman pouch. I was all set to run to my local sporting goods and upgrade my wave pouch until I looked at my old style leather pouch. It has the same elastic sides and with a little hemming it will hold a fire steel like it was made for it. I have been carrying some sort of multitool ever since they came on the market and had to slap myself in the head for never looking at the case closely. Now im trying to figure out what makes the most sense for the other side of the pouch. I have considered a small container of some sort to put in any combination of the following, H2o purifying tablets, small fishing kit, small sharpening rod/file, fireline (cordage), a couple 20 dollar bills. Looking for ideas. I EDC a flashlight on my belt in front of the multitool. and usually another pocket type knife. |

550 cord and something to sharpen knife blades with. When I have time to kill I try to sharpen whatever knife blades I have with me. Can't really do this in a crowded city but out here in the country it is not a big deal to see someone sharpening their pocket knife while waiting on someone to show up for something. |

that generally warrants cleaning a bang stick.... While I agree with you..... and nothing says "Hello" like sitting on the front deck cleaning a 1911 when a boy comes a calling...... When I read the post..... that is what crossed my mind. |

I dont have a leatherman, but I do carry a Gerber multitool and I just found a firesteel yesterday for the first time locally. Reading this thread I slid the firesteel into the side of the pouch and it made a perfect fit. Behind the main pouch in mine is a small assortment of screwdriver bits. I could remove these for space for a flashlight, but havwe found these to be very valuable at work. My case is out of room, but if I had a small pouch needing filling I would add a small flashlight of some flavor, especially since my AO is the city with some travel to the rural areas of my state. I always have a flashlight on my or very close by. My girlfriend thinks Im a flashlight whore
