I have a handful of the old military solvent containers from combloc orgin (I'm sure).  They are metal and contained bore solvent of some type.  I want to use them to contain BreakFree or Rem Oil.  They seal up tight and I like the metal better than the plastic I see today.  Knowing that I do not want to mix the two, what would be the best way to clean the metal bottles to ensure that I do not have something other than my intended CLP inside?  Or is the method not worth the effert?  I guess I just don't like throwing something out that may be useful.  Thanks.

maybe some mineral spirits to clean it out and then wash real good with water and wipe/dry it out real well and then let it sit in the sun for awhile to dry it out further.

Got pics? Be cool to see old surplus stuff

I'd spray them out with carb and choke cleaner or just rinse them clean with a bit of gasoline and let them dry out.  Don't let the EPA find out.
