Whats a good amount of emergency cash to carry on a daily basis?
You don't use or have credit cards. The shtf could be a broken down car to having to spend a night in a motel due to weather. |

I always keep $250 in my wallet for emergencies and a few hundred in my vehicles. I always keep $2.50 in my wallet for emergencies and a dollar in a few hundred of my vehicles.
FWIW One of the tricks I used for hiding cash is duct tape ziplock bag inside door panel. Crooks/breakins will go thru visors, consoles, glove boxes, under seats, steal tool boxes/bags etc but very VERY rarely will they dismantle the vehicle (esp if you don't have big flashy speakers etc) |

I keep a minimum of $200 on my person (cash offers can sometimes lower a price)
Another $300 in my truck, $100 in BOB in back of truck (small bills and coins). Undisclosed cash reserve back at home. If I didn't use CCs at all I'd probably carry a goodly amount more, probably about a grand between person and vehicle |

any where from $100 to $200 in the CRKT clip......and a $100 bill in the velcro on the holster.......
traveling.....$100 bill in each boot.....couple $20s or a $50 in the watch pocket....$20 in the boonie hat..... just checked....still got the $20 in my cell phone case lining. good place in the car is the bottom of you "big ass" maglite/club......below the spare bulb.....and I don't smoke....so I cut a little peice of black plastic the same size of the bottom of my ashtray......and usually keep some cash under there.....with some fuses and blinker bulbs on top of it. |
| I travel for a living and like to keep at least $300 on me at all times, but I would much rather have around $1000. I am finally debt free other than my truck and my lasik surgery so I am in a position to boost that amount a little bit. Cash is king so if I can see a bad situation coming I can hit the ATM early and have at least $600 to work with for getting home. It will pay to keep a close eye on the news and current events. |

i work within 11 miles from my home.
yanno, i have a nice amount of cash at home. I'll just say over a grand. but i never have more than a 100 on me. usually its more like 5 bucks. before the days of using a debit card at the gas pumps i used to go to the ATM every week and get 50 bucks or so, for gas and stuff, now 50 bucks hardly fills my car and the gas pumps need to be payed for before you dispense gas, so i dont keep much cash on me. from a survivalist standpoint thats kinna dumb. i guess i should put a hundred in each car and just leave it there. never know. when i travel i always have several hundred in cash on me. |

On a daily basis, around $100 in the wallet. Stashed in the truck is another hundred in various bills.
Traveling more than a couple hours from home, atleast $300 on me, plus the emergency cash in the truck. Decent amount of cash on hand at the house. Enough to make most any spur of the moment purchase, or survive for a few weeks. |

I had someone go through the back of my truck (had a shell, but stupidly didn't lock it). They only took easy things, left most of my stuff alone. However I had about $400 in cash at the bottom of a rubbermaid container that they didn't find. They sifted through it, but not enough. Whatever extra money you keep in your vehicle, generally even a quick smash and grab will find it if it's kept in a common location. I currently work from home, so I don't keep much in my vehicle anymore, but even when I travel I don't keep my emergency money in a conspicuous area. |
| I never had cash on me or stored away as I was naive in thinking my card would always work. Well, after going through three hurricanes in a row here in Florida, I learned how stupid I was for not preparing. I keep $1,000 at home in small bills ($20s), and another $500 locked up at work. Cash was king when the power was out here. |

I'm on a business trip in Florida right now, and I have just over $900 cash with me-in addition to the corporate Amex and personal Visa credit and debit cards.
There have been times while away from home when carrying extra cash has saved my bacon. Got stuck in Richmond VA a few years back when a winter storm closed the airport. I was able to rent an SUV for cash from a third-rate rental company and drive myself home. The extra c-note to the rental clerk sealed the deal-and I got home |
| Right before we invaded Panama. The News showed the Banks were closed and alot of People could not get change for a $20.00. My advice is have several Hundreds in One Dollar Bills. I keep about $100.00 in rolled change to. I work with 850 People and you would be surprised how many of them dont carry any Money. They live off of their Credit Cards. Our Vending Machines at Work Take Credit Cards. I once saw a Man at Cracker Barrel have His Credit Card refused after He ate His Meal. He was in a Predicament. He did not have any Cash. |

Thanks for the responses. It gives me an idea of how much to keep on me. Though some of you mentioned it I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving cash hidden in the car. With driving a truck for a living I think I should at a few more dollars to what I planned.

I have a $100 bill tucked away in my wallet for emergencies. Might be better to keep $20's. Some places can't change a big bill like that or won't. Good idea to keep some cash, I usually keep a couple hundred on me and a couple thousand at home. Saved us a couple months ago when both debit cards(different companies) were hacked. |
