We had a rain/sleet/snow storm last evening that caused us to lose power around 6:30 PM last night.  I was well-prepared for this and things were not too difficult.  However, the storm did demonstrate one hole in my preps....temporary heat.  I have a genny and was prepared to crank it up this morning when the power came back on around 9:30 am.  After a very cold morning, I showed my wife a Mr. Heater Buddy and explained how it worked. I told her that it would be useful to have, especially with the kids (6, 4 and 1 yr).  She felt it was prudent to add one with filter and 20 gal hose to our supplies.  Hence, the kit en route from Amazon.com.  Thank God that I have a wife who embraces prepping.

You'll like the Mr. Heater.  Check Lowes and menards for sales.  You might be able to pick up another heater to help out for next year.  It probably wouldn't hurt to get a CO detector, too.

What do you recommend for a battery operated CO detector?
